Vanilla is a noble spice obtained from various species of the orchid genus Vanilla . Originally, the spice vanilla (better known as Bourbon vanilla) comes from Mexico. However, the main cultivation area is now Madagascar.
The seeds contained in vanilla beans are primarily responsible for their unmistakable taste. Vanilla is used in particular to refine and flavor the finest dishes - often in desserts such as ice cream, puddings and pastries, but also in savory dishes.
